Anonymous asked: i've recently discovered that a lot of my anxiety comes from my body. not my appearance, but the fact of having a body itself - having organs inside me, and how much potential i have to go wrong. i'm worried this might be something more serious than regular anxiety. Some days it gets so bad i can't look in the mirror because i'm afraid i'll start decaying right then. Is this normal at all?
I am not sure I understand what you mean…could you explain a bit further?
Everyone experiences anxiety at some point in their lives, and so in that sense it is normal. But there is nothing normal about anxiety that is interfering with your daily life, disrupting your ability to function, etc. This is clearly a very distressing issue for you, and it should be treated as a serious thing.
Is your fear over something bad happening to you? Like intense fear of something being medically wrong with your body, developing a disease or disorder, etc.? Or is it something else?
If your anxiety is interfering with your daily life, you need and deserve help and relief. I want to encourage you to look into options like therapy/counseling—whether it is individual therapy, group therapy/support groups, CBT, DBT, therapy in conjunction with medication, etc. There are different approaches that work for different people. But I really hope you reach out for help and try to find something that works for you.
If you want to explore this further, please feel free to message me. I would love to be able to understand more of where you are coming from. <3
