Anonymous asked: Stupid question, sorry, but what's with the asterisk in trans* ?
This isn’t a stupid question (sorry for the delay in responding, by the way).
Basically, trans* is considered a more inclusive term and is taken to include transgender, transsexual, genderqueer, intersex, third gender, gender fluid, and other non-binary gender identities and expressions.
Some people feel that “trans” without the asterisk is taken to only mean transgender, and so they prefer to have to asterisk added to the end of the word as a way of signifying that many other non-binary identities and expressions are being included.
Does that make sense? :)
